Does anyone going down happen to have any extra hotel space for Saturday night by chance? Carol and I would like to spend the night in Leavenworth if we can.

Thank you for the offer Peter but a wife, two kids and a full load of gear with a canoe working as a giant sail makes a 1700 not highway compatable for my holiday driving.As for the beetle conversion Pablo I'd like to keep this old girl as stock as possible . Then look into a subi conversion later once I actualy build a garage with heat and my kids are old enough to not want to spend time with me

Yep that's me.
Sadly I guess it's been 4 years, but don't worry I've been lurking;)

Had a couple kids and life got busy, though now I'm starting to focus back on me again (i.e., vw's!).

It really struck me when I moved houses last fall and went to move the panel van over to the new house and found tools underneath it still left from their from the week before my first kid was born 3 weeks ago!

Hoping to come out to an event soon!

Hey guys, I'm looking for some new wheels! I'm gonna be heading up to eddy for the May long weekend and thought if there's a set of wheels, I can pick em up.

Looking for something of the 15x8 or 15x9 variety. Only 15" and only 4x100. Preferably offset somewhere around 20-25 but doesn't really matter. Looking for something like Rotas, Axis OGs, Konig, RML snowflakes, XXRs etc. Not really sure exactly what I want yet but do you guys have anything? Or know anyone that does?

I'll try and be gentlle.. anything can be done.

fit nicely? no.. easy to do.. no...
paying someone to put a tdi into an older bus would be... about 20k maybe 25k
old buses are air cooled, there is no coolant or radiator. There is also.. about 6 wires going to the engine in an aircooled. open your gti hood, how many wires would you guess your looking at?
the electrical and coolant plumbing alone will be a nightmare.

Now moving ahead several years/// putting a TDI into a late 80's early 90's vanagon, is certainly more doable, still doesn't really fit have to either drop engine lower or clearance the access hatch.
This conversion would be 10-15k
alternatives see subaru conversion, or bostig.

You can buy the adaptors and put everything together.. but getting it to run reliably and plumb it properly without overheating... maybe

Rough price guide
- A mid 60's bus project can be purchased for $7000
- a mid 70's project for $5500
- mid 80's for $3500
