Just wanted to share the good new. We started this project 16 months ago, and were determined to have it finished for my buddies wedding last weekend. We did our first test drive 24 hours before the wedding and I finally went in and put on my tux 65 minutes before the ceremony started. I was trying to get it done for EOS but was a week late. I have lots a pics on my website url="http:www.ualberta.ca/~jjacobs/roofchop/roofchop2.htm"]roofchop[/url]. A big shout out to the guys at Basco and Westside for the advice. Although it is on the road, it is far from done. Here are a few pics (that is me on the left, the groom on the right).
Token progress pic:
Details:
- Started as a 72 superbeetle with a 71 donor
- Chopped the roof ~4 inches at the B pillar, ~5 at the A pillar and, ~ 6 at the c pillar
- Lowered about 4 inches with little smart car tires
- Early style bumpers, front signal lights, and rearview mirror.
- Shaved the hood handle and emblem
- Removed all trim
- Sunroof (salvaged from unknown car, not a vw)
- Shaved license plate light and replaced with small dome light.
- MP3 CD player, 80 watt Amp, Front Seperates, 900 watt amp, 15" subs (all good quality, brandname)
- Engine is stock except the header and stinger.
Lots of pics on the website.
Enjoy
